SETC High School New Play Contest
Attention Teachers and Young Playwrights in Southeast USA:

One talented high school student will win the SETC High School New Play Contest and travel with an adult chaperone as guests of the Southeastern Theatre Conference to the March Convention for a staged reading and critique. The award check is presented at the annual Saturday night Awards Banquet.
Who’s Eligible?
High school student playwrights who currently reside in one of the ten states in the SETC region are eligible: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Entry Window:
Submissions accepted from Oct. 1 through Dec. 1 of each year. Click here to download a poster for your students.
Entry Requirements:
The script should be a one-act play that has not been published or professionally produced. Each applicant may submit one play only. Plays must be written by a single playwright - no collaborations.

Review Process:
A team of readers determine the winning entrant. The winner is notified by mid-January.
Winner Expectations:
The winner must attend both the rehearsal and staged reading at the annual convention the beginning of March. The Southeastern Theatre Conference will cover travel and provide a per diem for both the winner and an adult chaperone. Banquet tickets are included as the winner will receive a cash award at the annual celebration.
