Brooklyn Publishers publishes top-quality, non-musical plays, both one-acts and full-lengths. We also specialize in 10-minute monologues, duets, and skits. We mainly publish for high school, junior high, and middle school. This is a huge market, as our catalogues are received by 70,000+ schools. Large-cast plays are preferable. Good small-cast plays are acceptable as well. However, a teacher can have 20, 25, even 30 students in a class. To cast 2 of 3 actors in a full-length and find work backstage for 20 additional students isn't usually a viable option. In schools everywhere, coaches want plays with more female than male roles. Our 10-minute monologues and duets are mostly for the forensics (competitive drama) market. In competition, students may not use costumes or props, though a chair is allowed. Lots of twists, turns, additional voices (perhaps accents), sparkling dialogue, witty humor, strong drama, and a powerful ending are all winning combinations for competitive drama. Royalties are paid on one-acts and full-lengths while we pay per-script for our 10-minute scripts. Our pay scale is excellent for the market, and we never interfere with your production rights or your ability to promote your play for production in other venues.
