New York City Playwrights posts production opportunities available to playwrights in the New York City area. Some opportunities are open to regional, national, or international writers. Like the Burry Man Writers Center, this blog doesn’t cater exclusively to young playwrights, but some of the competitions they post are all-ages, and for YPI alumni asking themselves “What’s next?,” it’s definitely a great resource to have!

Amateur format aside, has a lot of information about personality types. I’m an AP Psychology nerd. Also helpful for character development.

The Young Playwrights’ Road Map is an advice blog for aspiring playwrights, with the unique twist that the articles are written by former young playwrights! Their been-there done-that advice covers everything from how to work with a dramaturg to how to revise even if you don’t have a second set of eyes to look at your play. They also post information about upcoming competition deadlines, but don’t maintain an exhaustive list.

WriteWorld is a blog which collects quotes, images, and sound files meant to be used as jumping-off points for writers. I love going through their “sentence blocks” list when I’m looking for a prompt to do some speed writing.
