Write a Play in One Minute:

Here is a quick exercise to get your creativity flowing. All you need is a piece of paper, a pen or pencil, and 60 seconds!

  • Write a “#1” at the center of the top of the paper. Skip a line, then write a “#2” underneath the #1. Continue the pattern down the page until you run out of room.

#1

#2

#1
(etc.)

  • On the line underneath the first #1, write

#1
Hey, did you hear…

  • Set a timer for one minute.

  • Write! – starting with finishing the first line that we have suggested. See how far down the page you can get in 60 seconds!

  • When time is up, stop writing. Take a look at your paper—you have just written a play!

  • Keep going—what are the names of the characters? Can you add a sound? Where does the scene take place? Your imagination is the limit.
