Playwrights can continue their study of playwriting in the Advanced Playwriting Workshop, an exciting year-long program for motivated and talented high school-aged playwrights in the NYC area. Offered completely free of charge, this unique course provides an extraordinary opportunity for the expansion and exercise of the playwriting craft, exploration of establishment and alternative writing forms, collaboration and interaction with other young dramatists, and intensive study with distinguished master artists.
The Advanced Playwriting Workshop meets in midtown Manhattan every Tuesday from 4:30 - 7:00 pm starting in the fall and continuing throughout the academic year. Participants are guided through playwriting exercises culled from the Write A Play! curriculum. Participants also attend Broadway and Off-Broadway productions followed by lively discussions with playwrights, directors, producers, and cast members. Over the course of the school year, Advanced Playwriting Workshop members develop and revise new plays of their own; professional staged readings of those plays will be presented at Young Playwrights Inc. in the spring of 2014.
