invite you to participate in the YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS LATINO CHALLENGE PLAY. WRITE. WIN $500. WE DARE YOU! If you are a New York City high school student - Latino or not - we've got a challenge for you. The YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS LATINO CHALLENGE is looking for plays for the second TeatroStageFest, which is being produced by the Latino International Theater Festival of New York, Inc. in the spring of 2008. At least one of the main characters in your play must be Latino, but the style, subject matter, and point of view are all up to you. The winning playwright will be awarded $500 and a professional staged reading of his/her play at the awards ceremony in June, 2008. Second- and third-prize winners will receive $250 each and special recognition. Every entrant will be invited to the celebration and will also receive a pair of free tickets to TeatroStageFest. HERE’S WHAT YOU DO: · Keep it real. · Write in English or in Spanish or a combination of the two. · Style, subject, and length are up to you, but your work must be original. No screenplays, musicals, or adaptations. · You must submit your own play. Submissions by parents or teachers don’t count. · On the title page, list your name, school, grade, address (including apt. #), e-mail, and phone #. · Type and staple your play. Remember to number your pages. No e-mail submissions! · Keep your original script and submit a copy since submissions will not be returned. · You may submit more than one play. Go for it! This is your chance to be heard! · Each entrant will receive a written evaluation of the play by a theater professional and an invitation to the Awards Ceremony.
